Food in the news

Just a quick post here to plug The New Yorker’s annual Food Issue, delivered to my door a few days ago and quickly, er, devoured.  Lots of great stuff in there, including a nice article on the allure and underappreciation of root crops.  Check it out!

Our very last market of the 2010 season is tomorrow, Wednesday 11/24, in Portland’s Monument Square from 7am-2pm.  Come by and stock up on everything you’ll need for the feast, including kale, pie pumpkins, carrots, parsnips, rutabaga, celeriac, beets, garlic, cabbage, fresh eggs, and more.  And, from all of us to all of you, have a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving!  We’ll be hosting the feast here at the farm and will be joined by my sister and her family from New Hampshire plus our old friend and former fellow apprentice, Nicole.  Eat well, all, and remember how lucky we are to have access to good food and clean water.
