Hi, Laura! Sorry to report that we are full for the 2012 season. Drop us a line at summitspringsfarm@fairpoint.net if you'd like to be added to our waiting list to get a jump on a CSA share for next season. Also, we decided not to add a Windham drop this season...not enough interest in the area, as it turned out.

I'd say you handled that beautifully. Death is such a difficult concept to explain to such young minds. Giving each child the option of wanting to participate in Emerson's burial had many lessons intertwined there. Bravo - well done!

You parents handled that absolutely perfectly, IMHO. Next much more tricky discussion: the eventual deliberate killing and then eating of such a lamb, in fact said lamb's sibling, in order to enjoy roast lamb, chops, and all that.

Story books of cute little farms with red barns and hens clucking, rarely if ever, cover this. I have not investigated this in recent years, however.

Hi, Julie! We will add you to our waiting list and let you know if anything more opens up this season...if not, there's always next year! As for pick-ups, I'm not sure what to recommend. If you can't make it to the farm on Tuesday afternoons, perhaps a friend or family member could pick up for you? Sometimes we have members who have to come late for one reason or another, and we leave their shares in our cooler. This might work for you. We can discuss logistics when the time comes. Thanks for your interest, and feel free to come on by for our next farm potluck, Tues. March 20th from 5-9 PM. We'd love to meet you!
